<image:caption>We live and move through places structured by violence in which it can be easy to be complacent and complicit, to blame ourselves and each other rather than grapple with the nuance and complexity of the big picture(s). My work strives to name that violence and to be accountable to those impacted by it within my reach … and to find the beautiful, ever-changing moments of co-created meaning and possibilities that emerge when we pay deep and engaged attention. I have learnt that one way in which hope can be practiced is in treating each other as if the world we need and deserve is already here, and in so doing, we bring that world into being. <image:title>Therapy - Dahr El Sawan, Mount Lebanon</image:title>
<image:caption>Psychotherapy It is a privilege to explore your experiences of becoming and (un)belonging within your everyday relationships, the spaces you move through, and your ancestral inheritance(s). My practice is concerned with the impacts of collective violence, systemic inequities, and oppressive social discourses. I have been developing a politically informed, narrative, relational, and intersectional approach since 2008. I strive to engage in liberatory processes that nourish the capacity of marginalized folks to creatively respond, resist, heal, and move through their worlds with attention to possibilities. Individual therapy is offered online. Accessing virtual care from your chosen safe place (along with a pet if you’d like) is both accessible and can be helpful. We can work together in Arabic (Shami dialect), English and French. Fees for psychotherapy are proposed on a sliding scale and can be discussed any time that your situation changes. Several of the people I work with pay what they can at each session, including well above the maximum fee when possible. In so doing, we are in a community of practice in our shared imaginary and solidarity. With this approach to payment I can offer free mental health evaluations for legal purposes to individuals living in precarious social positions, as well as pro bono community grief and suicide themed workshops. <image:title>Thérapie - Dahr El Sawan, Mont Liban</image:title>
<image:caption>Rehabilitation providers worldwide face paradoxical positions relative to disability: whereas rehabilitation can offer essential support and care to persons with disabilities, rehabilitation can also perpetuate ableism, the oppression of persons with disabilities. Examples of ableism perpetuated by rehabilitation include the reinforcement of discourses of normality and the concentration of power and resources into institutions and professional activities at the expense of initiatives led by the disabled. I’ll be facilitating a session on Accountability and Disability Justice on June 15th. [Online course]</image:caption>

      <image:title>Events - Global Health Week</image:title>
<image:caption>The McGill School of Population and Global Health is hosting a four day open-access hybrid series of events on the theme of solutions to global challenges. Please join me and several others on May 19th for a panel co-hosted by the Lancet Commission on Health Professionals. Description: Public health crises are becoming increasingly complex. The COVID-19 pandemic is indicative of a broader set of acute and chronic threats to health, health equity and well-being in the 21st century. In the face of these challenges, a high premium is being placed on leadership for health that spans the local to global and stretches across sectors and public-private divides. Through a focus on hot topic issues and animated by thought leaders, this forum will consider how fit-for-purpose leadership for health can be nurtured more effectively though health professional training.</image:caption>
